The mission of the Appeals Officers regrouped under the Occupational Health and Safety Tribunal Canada is to ensure expert, independent, unbiased quality service to all parties by treating them equally, fairly and with understanding, respect and dignity.
Our Mandate
The mandate of the Appeals Officers regrouped under the Occupational Health and Safety Tribunal Canada is to receive, hear and decide on appeals of decisions of absence of danger and directions regarding occupational health and safety issued pursuant to the Canada Labour Code.
Our Vision
The Appeals Officers regrouped under the Occupational Health and Safety Tribunal Canada seek in the context of their mandate and the prevention of work place accidents and injuries:
- an understanding by all parties of hearing procedures and of their rights;
- holding prompt, impartial and fair hearings;
- issuing correct and reasonable decisions, with reasons, in a timely manner;
- establishing jurisprudence in the interpretation and the application of the Code and its regulations.
In the exercise of its powers, the Tribunal aims to be efficient, effective, innovative and progressive. The working environment at the Tribunal promotes learning, development, professionalism and respect.
